William Kowalski

Award-winning novelist, screenwriter and writing mentor

William Kowalski is an award-winning novelist, screenwriter, and writing mentor.  His work has been translated into fifteen languages, earning him a loyal international following.   Kowalski's first novel, Eddie's Bastard, was published by HarperCollins in 1999.  It won South Africa's Ama-Boeke Award in 2001, was twice selected for Booksense 76, and appeared at #5 on the Times of London's best-seller list, among other honors.  Three more novels--Somewhere South of Here (2001), The Adventures of Flash Jackson (2003), and The Good Neighbor (2004)--followed, all published by HarperCollins.  A native of Erie, PA, William resides with his family in Nova Scotia.

As an editor and mentor, William greatly enjoys working with emerging writers who dream of seeing their work in print, but who feel their writing needs the assistance of a professional.  He assists authors at every stage of the writing, editing, and submission process.

Praise

"To find a good editor is like finding water in the desert.  To find a friend is a far greater challenge.  I am grateful to have found both in Bill.  After many years of tossing my story around [in my head], Bill's professionalism, unmeasurable literary knowledge, and refreshing personality helped me in making my writing a success."

Eduardo F. Calcines, author of LEAVING GLORYTOWN:  One Boy's Struggle Under Castro [www.glorytown.net]

NoteEduardo's memoir was sold by literary agent Doris Booth [www.authorlink.com] to Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 2008, and will be published in April of 2009.  LEAVING GLORYTOWN is also an official selection of the Junior Library Guild and received a starred review in School Library Journal.
