In this introductory class, learn the straight of writing for film/TV from the imminent Hollywood producer and writer of more than 40 film/TV movies. Among his many credits, Jim wrote The Rape of Richard Beck (ABC), for which he was nominated for a Writer’s Guild of America Award and for which Richard Crenna won the Emmy. He also co-executive produced the hit CBS series Nash Bridges, and co-produced the hit HBO original series, Rome. In this intensive one-hour session, you'll get an honest, behind-the-scenes look at writing and producing from a pro. Also an excellent session for fiction writers too. - How to identify and choose your genre/or mixed genre
- How to articulate your theme and premise
- The importance of hooking the viewer and plotting your story
- Building your characters

- What to do when you're stuck

- Correct screenplay form
- Techniques for outlining
- To write a compelling treatment
- Define and develop a high concept for your project
